therapy for men
Men are different than women
Men are different than women. The issues that concern them are different, their approaches to solving problems are different, and the way they deal with people is different.
This “being different” is often characterized by role conformity. Men's psychological and social life should be "masculine" and strives to maintain a performance-oriented level of functioning. The man is controlled more by "should" and "must" than by "want".
Men suffer differently...
Men's difficulties and problems are often very different from women's. In most cases, however, these are not recognized or recognized too late, since they differ significantly from those of female complaints.
Women usually have good access to their feelings. Men, on the other hand, tend to rationalize events. In general, men also like to externalize when dealing with their problems. They withdraw, throw themselves into their work or increasingly resort to addictive substances such as alcohol or cigarettes.
Men suffer silently and secretly...
Only every fourth patient in psychotherapy is a man. The classic role model in which men "are not allowed to show any feelings" often means that men suffer longer than they have to. They sometimes endure for years, biting through, believing they have to cope on their own instead of going to therapy. Men are used to hiding problems and dealing with them on their own. For them, getting help means doubting themselves and having to change, and that may be more painful than continuing to live with the problems in any way
The attempt to keep everything under control, to show no weakness and to get by on their own often leads to the chronification of their suffering. Conditions that are not treated can actually take root and worsen. When they then find their way to a practice, it takes significantly longer to alleviate the suffering than if they had gotten help directly.
Psychotherapy from man to man
The principle of "psychotherapy" is tailored more to women than to men: the whole setting, namely having an open discussion about one's own feelings and difficulties, is familiar territory for the vast majority of women, but for the majority of men it is really new territory. Asking for advice and admitting weaknesses goes against their self-image.
Many men, on the other hand, prefer to act. You want therapy at eye level from friend to friend. Someone who understands her and takes her suffering seriously. Someone who will also lovingly confront and challenge them. Someone with whom you can work on your condition in a solution-oriented manner and with clear therapy goals. They often desire a focus on resources and their strengths and are a fan of "Positive Psychology".
men are wonderful
Are there still places in our society where the man in his entirety (body-mind-soul) is treated with respect and feels in good hands? You want to offer yourself such a place.
Gender continues to be a powerful and very formative component in the process of identity development. But the role of men has changed enormously in the last decade. Feminism has broken down traditional social structures and role models for more gender equality. At the same time, the male gender is often criticized and presented as "wrong" or stigmatized as the "perpetrator".
What is often forgotten to communicate: Men are wonderful. A man who lives a mature and responsible masculinity is a blessing to society and is also welcome to celebrate and enjoy his masculinity in every facet of his existence. There is nothing, given the maturity, that he needs to hide or be ashamed of.
My therapeutic approach
I am the good friend with psychotherapeutic expertise. By means of loving confrontation and being there authentically, I want to stimulate you to grow.
The healing of old and perhaps already "scarred" wounds and the liberation from rigid structures takes place through the warm-hearted, open and clear accompaniment of a male counterpart.
In the men's practice, there is a reflection on one's own wishes, needs and fantasies. The man finds more confidence in himself through self-awareness and centered awareness. This forms the starting point for more personal responsibility and authenticity. The man finds himself and enters into a new relationship.
About me
My name is Stefan Passvogel, initiated man, partner and online clinical psychologist.
I studied psychology at the University of Tübingen and am currently training to become a licensed psychotherapist at the ZIST Academy for Psychotherapy. With numerous additional qualifications in systemic therapy, hypnotherapy, gestalt therapy, NLP and attachment therapy, I have a broad base as a therapist and would describe my approach as eclectic, ie I pursue a cross-school approach to general psychotherapy.
I lead workshops on the topics of positive psychology, performance excellence and emotional mastery at numerous well-known German universities, as well as regular training courses at the Milton Erickson Society for clinical hypnotherapy. Before working as a psychotherapist, I worked as a consultant in business and accompanied larger change management projects.
I was born in Munich in 1989 as the middle son of three siblings. As a teenager, I was particularly enthusiastic about sport, played in the soccer club, went to the swimming club and was out and about in nature a lot.
Due to a challenging school time, I only approached the female gender at the age of 18. I discovered Pickup, joined a community of like-minded people, and practiced flirting. The fact that all this leads to short-term pleasure, but is not fulfilling in the long term and above all does not solve my fundamental self-esteem problems, was the next realization on my way.
I began to be fascinated by men's work, so in 2009 I took part in the Eisenhans seminar in the north of Berlin for the first time. In 2013 I was initiated as a man within the "Mankind Project" and I am still part of various men's groups in which I cultivate deep friendships and an honest exchange.

Reimbursement by the health insurance companies
For private patients and self-payers:
Assumption of costs: Private health insurance companies usually assume the costs for online psychotherapy with us in full or in part, depending on the individual insurance contract.
The fee is based on the GOÄ (fee schedule for doctors). The cost of a 50-minute session is between €100 and €153. Depending on the individual insurance contract, a private co-payment is required in some cases. To be absolutely sure which costs your health insurance company will cover, it is best to call your private health insurance company or assistance.
The first 5 sessions are the so-called "probatory sessions", which can be carried out without applying to the cost bearer. From the 6th session, an application to the private health insurance company or allowance for civil servants is usually required, which we will be happy to take care of for you.
As a self-payer, billing for your online appointments is the easiest. It is not necessary to apply for the assumption of costs and the health insurance company is not involved in any way. The appointments can be billed as psychological counseling or coaching, which can also be tax-deductible in the case of a job
For those with statutory health insurance:
Since we work in a private practice, it is unfortunately not usually possible for statutory health insurance companies to cover the costs. However, you are welcome to make an appointment with us as a self-payer.
